And the feeling wellness continues!

OK...

That's well over an hour since ingesting the fish & chips. I feel reasonably well. No problems whatever.

Biting the fin

OK, so tonight I had fish & chips. So far, so good. I have to say, not the tastiest of food (I'm sure the last time I had fish & chips there was some flavour to the fish, or was that a trick of my memory?). Filling, though, and I should know before too long if there is any problem.

Today I have had cornflakes and various bananas, and I'm OK. Plan is for fish supper later to see how my body handles that.

Heading to Stobhill shortly to see my father, who apparently isn't getting out as quickly as he hoped. Not sure why. He is naturally not pleased.

[ETA: There's apparently still pus in the cyst, but it isn't draining, they are deciding what to do about that. He's also on serious antibiotics. But he's looking a lot better.]

Thanks to the wonderful emmzzi, got in a reasonable amount of shopping, including about 4kg of basmati rice and three cartons of Alpro soya milk (which for some reason is very difficult to get at the moment), with little spoon outlay. That's a huge amount of WIN. Thank you, emmzzi!

:(

My guts are aching. In the evening I had pasta, tomato sauce - thought
that would be OK. Actually, symptoms are very mild by comparison even
with the post-tofu effect earlier. Maybe I need to stop eating veg at
all for a while, which I suppose means thinking of eating some sort of
meat and pots/rice/pasta. Oh joy.

I am hoping I have more spoons tomorrow than the past couple of days.
Running out of stuff.

Something I have been wondering about for a while

This is something I have been curious about for a while. If you go through Queen Street Station, you will often see yellow cones indicating that the floor is wet (especially on platforms 8 & 9, since there's often water dripping down near the lift shafts). These cones indicate the floor is wet in two languages: English and Spanish.

Why Spanish? I could see arguments for Gaelic (an indigenous language, and the station's signs are in English and Gaelic — Queen Street handles the West Highland Line, after all). I could see arguments for Italian, or Chinese, or an Indian language; Polish, even. But Spanish? There are Spanish people in Glasgow, but I don't think there is a particularly sizeable Spanish community. It seems odd.

Events

Not exactly unexpectedly, my father ended up in hospital last night.[*] It  appears that he has a cyst in his liver. He's on IV antibiotics. It also turns out he had quite a few symptoms we knew nothing about. Bloody parents!

I am likely to be well out of circulation for a few days. (Being a bit hopeul there, possibly.) This is heavy on the spoons. Last night when I got back in (at 1am!) I sat down, had some tea, and then had difficulty getting to bad because I had just despooned...

The London trip is still ON, in case you are wondering. By hook or by crook.

[*Which meant I had to go with him to bloody Stobhill, didn't get food for far too long and only got home at 1am. Wrecked today as a result.]

Very sad news

Just learned via a Facebook post that Ewan Chrystal is dead. That is very sad news. He was a lovely man, one of the people I always looked forward to seeing at Eastercon. Really won't be the same without him.

This IJ

I set this up a couple of years ago when there was much The sky is falling! stuff on LJ. Now, again, there is wailing and running around and waving of arms. I don’t expect LJ to go tits up, but this blog I’m keeping as a just-in-case fallback. I’m “tanngrisnir” on LJ, by the way.
